Clinical Observation of Measles Infection in Infants and Children

Abstract

|
Clinical observations and comparative analyses in terms of vaccination were performed on 73 measles patients managed with hospitalization during recent 2 years. Among the total patients 58.9% were the vaccinated whose mean age was 6.5 years ; and
that
of the unvaccinated was 8.3 months. Vomiting, leukopenia and thrombocytopenia were significantly more frequent in the vaccinated. Major complications wee hepatitis(31.5%), pneumonia(30.1%), gastroenteritis (20.5%) and otitis media(8.2%). Further
study
on the hepatic dysfunction associated with measles infection should be done.
